Welcome dear travelers to the night of Degati.
I am Kazblula, your guide.
All that will pass here is

Tari, 15 candles.

God, I love being popular”, Onatari sighed to himself while leaning up against a tree. He was right; he had the looks, gods own gift to Onatari. He shot his most cunning grin at a girl walking by at his school who instantly became subdued and fainted. As the bell rang Ontario walked toward the school laughing to himself. Once Onatari sat down at his desk for math class he fell asleep so fast you would think he just died. The teacher passed around tests not noticing the sleeping Onatari because of her awful eyesight then, sat down at her desk in the front of the room and said, “You have 40 minutes starting now!” “Pssssst”, Onatari’s friend Troy whispered across to Onatari, “What’s the answer to number five?” he said to the as-good-as unconscious Onatari. Onatari let out a big snore. “Sweet!” Troy said, “The answer to number five is snore. Thanks Onatari.” By the time Onatari woke up the bell rang and everyone handed in his or her papers. While walking toward his next class Onatari’s friends Mara, Rama, and Troy caught up with him. “Dude wasn’t that test easy” Rama blurted out. ”No it was really though” Rama’s brother Mara said. Mara and Rama they call the “Oppitwins”. They’re twins but they are the opposites of eachother. Rama is out-there, while Mara is quiet and doesn’t talk much. Even their hair is opposite; Rama has blonde hair with dark highlights, and Mara has dark hair with blonde highlights. “Well Onatari helped me with my test” Troy said. “There was a test?” Onatari said in agony that was covered up by a huge yawn. “I fell asleep” Suddenly troy and the others didn’t feel like talking about the test any more. S o they reverted the subject over to Onatari’s 15th birthday. *That’s right * Onatari thought to himself. *I’ve been so wrapped up in school to remember that I’m turning 15 today* (the *’s represent thought). Suddenly the day seemed happy like the cute rabbit next door finally killed the bear that had been about to kill you and the day went much faster. When he got home he was doing nothing but deciding what to wear and setting up for the party. When it was time everyone from the school (literally everyone) went into Onatari’s vast backyard filled with games, prizes free stuff and even a live performance from a local band called Overreaction; who played awesome jam tunes. For awhile he let girl congratulate him (for reasons he did not know) and let his guests circulate the vast yard of awesomenessness (that’s how good it was) before calling them in for cake. The cake was marked with 15 candles (ring a bell?) and decorated like a master chef’s handiwork. “Make a wish! Make a wish!” The crowd started chanting and so he did. *I love being popular and all but I wish something new and exciting would happen and I could go on an adventure and see new places* and that was his wish as he blew out his candles. He thought it wouldn’t come true none of his birthday wishes ever had, but then the candles relit and formed a giant flaming hand. Every one ran and hid from the heat of the flaming hand with an eye in the palm. The hand made its way toward Onatari and placed the eye on his forehead then the hand twisted back into the candles and disappeared. Onatari had fallen backwards his face hitting the ground head on. His older brother Suatari came rushing to his side. ”Bro. are you okay?” Onatari could faintly hear his brother’s voice through the ground as Onatari rolled over. Revealing a black third eye embedded in his forehead the same eye he noticed as the eye on the flaming hand. At first all the guests thought it was a parlor trick but as they neared Onatari and Suatari they learned that what they saw was no planned shenanigan. Onatari could plainly see everyone and their energy ebbing and flowing as though it was separate from its human shell. He had to shut his third eye for he would go mad if he didn’t. The crowd shook. Everyone ran. Suatari looked on disbelieving. His happiness shattered, his brother’s innocence (and good looks) had been taken in one fell swoop. He knew his life ,their lives ,would never be the same. When his father got home, Onatari still had his eyes bolted shut. He was in denial. He shouldn’t have wished. He shouldn’t have done anything. He should have wished for something else, something like more money, more popularity ,anything but adventure!” By then they were at the doctor’s on the outskirts of the city. They walked into the office and shut the door. They paid the doctor and Onatari entered his room. “Very interestin’, my brudda. You seems to gotst an eye in yall’s foreheads,” said the doctor peering through a stethoscope. “I knew that,” said Onatari, half sarcastically. “My brudda, what you don’t know is that we’re gonna have to get the needle-prodder-inspectamathing,” the doctor said with an evil grin. “A needle-powder-inpecta my watsa?” “A needle-prodder-inspectamathing. The most highest techno stuffs, my brudda, is designed to remove eyes, ya see?” Onatari looked disbelievingly at the giant implement. Screams of agony echoed for miles around.
